Wasatch Environmental President Featured at CCNY Event
City College of New York (CCNY) Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Career and Professional Development Institute, and Office of Continuing and Professional Studies present an evening with Wasatch Environmental President Julie H. Kilgore on October 18, 2016.
Ms. Kilgore is a former chair of ASTM E50 Committee on Environmental Site Assessment and Risk Management. She has served on the ASTM International Board of Directors and chaired the national task force responsible for developing the ASTM E1527 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment standard since 2000. Ms. Kilgore will speak about industry standards developed by ASTM that are utilized throughout the country for evaluating environmental conditions of commercial property, which are also technically defensible research and data collection tools used to establish environmental liability protections. She will also discuss key ASTM standards that have been nearly universally adopted by technical and financial sectors involved in commercial real estate transactions and have been adopted or referenced by federal and state agencies.
The October 18 event, which is open to the public, will be hosted by CCNY Professor Angelo Lampousis, Ph.D., Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. He is an OSHA-authorized trainer involved in curriculum development efforts in collaboration with US-based standards development societies (e.g., ASTM and ANSI). Dr. Lampousis will lead the conversation, with a question and answer session and reception to follow.
CCNY, founded in 1847, is one of 11 senior colleges within The City University of New York (CUNY), the nation's largest university, which is also home to seven community colleges, The Macaulay Honors College, and five graduate and professional schools. CUNY ranks seventh in the number of alumni who have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences and eighth in producing top-level executives in American business and industry. The University's long list of distinguished alumni includes 13 Nobel Laureates, among the highest number from any public university. Ms. Kilgore notes, “It is an honor to be invited to speak on development and utilization of ASTM standards at the historic City College, and I look forward to dialoging with Dr. Lampousis and attendees.”
